Students from both the infants and primary sections were allowed to look over the aircraft and ask the aircrew questions.
The aircraft was piloted by 22-year-old Sub Lieutenant Nick Wright, and the crew included Aircrewman Training Officer, Warrant Officer Craig Daniel, SBLT Taylor Gordon-Hall, Able Seaman Peta Large and Petty Officer Greg Doran.
Students asked a number of interesting questions and discovered the aircraft has a cruising speed of 220 kilometres per hour and a top speed of 270km/h.
The aircraft's black and yellow colours were discussed, with students told the design makes the aircraft easily visible from both the land and in the air.
It was also a special day for WO Daniel who caught up with his three daughters - Chloe,12, Emmie, 10, and Annalise, 5, who all attend Nowra Public.
A number of students used their iPads to take photographs and videos which they intend to make into a movie to record the visit.
Children of defence personnel along with Principal Nicole Humphreys posed with the aircrew for a special photograph in front of the helicopter.
The school held its Anzac Day service later in the day.
