The Sanctuary Point residents are currently getting ready to take part in the Cancer Council's Shitbox rally in October, but they have already started to raise funds.
Deb and Ray recently held a 'coffee on the double' event in the Schultz Garden Centre in Tomerong, which was a great success.
"We raised $2500, which as usual humbled us," Deb said.
"Cancer is breaking too many hearts and we feel like we can make a difference in our community by raising awareness which leads to prevention because unfortunately without that people will die."
Deb's sister-in-law Stacey also helped organise the event, while Deb said Lea and Mark from Schultz Garden Centre were super amazing.
Local band Fijolo also performed some groovy tunes.
Deb is a bowel cancer survivor and is also a Cancer Council volunteer.

The team will be cooking up a storm at its first Bunnings barbecue this Saturday, April 13.
They will be heading off on the rally from October 19 and will be on the road for six days.
Go to www.shitboxrally.com.au for more details on the Shitbox Rally.
Shitbox Rally has grown to a total of 250 teams, plus support teams, taking their cars on the road as part of the fundraising effort, and all the money raised goes to the Cancer Council.
