Wayne Victor Craig, 36, was refused bail in Nowra Local Court by Magistrate Gabriel Fleming on Monday charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intimidation.
It is alleged Craig assaulted the two male paramedics while being transported to Shoalhaven District Hospital for treatment.
The paramedics had been called to a Nowra property around 10.50pm on April 6 to treat Craig for a variety of ailments but on the trip to hospital he allegedly assaulted the 43-year-old and 48-year-old paramedics who were treating him.
It is understood Craig stood up in the back of the ambulance, grabbed a defibrillator pack and went to throw it at the younger paramedic.
The man's partner, who was driving the ambulance, stopped the vehicle and requested urgent police assistance, before coming to the aid of his colleague.
It is understood Craig allegedly threatened to kill the paramedics and grabbed scissors.
The two paramedics managed to wrestle Craig to the floor but were allegedly injured by punches and kicks.
The paramedics were able to disarm and restrain him until police arrived.
Court papers have revealed Craig was already on bail, facing two counts of being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of intimidation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, damaging property, common assault and remaining on enclosed lands following alleged incidents in Dubbo on December 17-18 last year.
It is was alleged Craig was armed with a short stick with a sharpened end and a 1.5 metre piece of timber, which he used to intimidate and injure two men.
He was also charged with damaging a cell at the Dubbo police station.
Craig will reappear before the court on Tuesday, April 9.
