Her hard work paid off when she recently received a major girl guide award.
"Over the last 18 months I have been working on my Junior Baden-Powell (BP) Award and it's third highest award in girl guides," she said.
"I was the third girl ever at North Nowra to get this award."
Elara had to do 12 challenges to finish the process.
"My favourite part was getting to know my friends more. I made cupcakes in their favourite flavours and bookmarks with their favourite flowers and sewed little pouches in their favourite colours to keep them in," she said.
"For wombat, our leader, I hand made a stuffed felt wombat. I made the packet and swing tags as well."
She also went camping and did first aid.
"I made and edited a video on how to make a girl guides cupcakes with the guiding trefoil on top," she said.
"We went rock hopping, we found lots of pretty shells, starfish and shark egg under a tree.
I feel very proud of myself for achieving this award. I had fun doing it and I have learnt lots of new skills."
