It all started a number of weeks ago when Dee captained the Mackay and Districts Country team against the City side - a side that also featured Shellharbour's Sam Clune and Harold Snell - to close 12-6 loss.
"It was really exciting to lead that talented squad out on to the field and take some leadership, after playing in the game once again," Dee said.
"As a whole, we played okay but for most of the boys, it was our first proper game of the year, meaning there was a fair bit of rust.
"Unfortunately, we fell just short at the end of the game, when our last ditch effort hit the ground."
Despite losing, all three Group Seven products, who will play for Wests in the Mackay competition this season, were named in the Mackay representative side.
"I'm stoked to be picked in the Mackay team again, especially alongside a number of my good mates like Sam and Harold," he said.
"Hopefully we can all play some good footy and push for selection for the North Queensland team."
The trio's Mackay Foley Shield team will clash with Central Queensland on Saturday, March 23 - with a combined North Queensland named after the match.
"After playing in the corresponding match last season, I know just how tough it's going to be," Dee said.
"Especially as everyone will be out to push for selection in that North Queensland team.
"I'd be over the moon to make the team again, as I learnt a lot in the camp last year, which helped me take me game to the next level.
"And to travel down and take on the NSW in Sydney, in front of my friends and family, would be amazing - I'll be giving me all to make that side."
