March brings a celebration of young local talent to the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery, as New Horizons returns from March 16 to showcase the imaginative HSC visual artworks of students from public and private schools throughout the Shoalhaven.
Continuing in the main gallery until April 6 is Plaception by Shoalhaven local Elyssa Sykes-Smith. The gallery has been transformed as sculptural figures made of perspex and wood climb the walls and a painted paper tunnel draws audiences into a video artwork. Elyssa has also given the forecourt cubby house a makeover.
On Saturday, March 16 at 11am, Elyssa Sykes-Smith will speak about Mind Walks, one-to-one performances consisting of guided walking tours and visualisations with volunteers. Participants from local high schools will also attend to share their experiences. This will be followed by the official launch of New Horizons from noon.
Until March 9, catch Wayne Budge’s portraits of Australia’s music royalty in Faces Behind the Music alongside two group shows featuring the work of local artists, Scissors, Paper, Rock and Shared Pathways: Reimagining the Wool Road.
