BATEMANS Bay have proven why they are the team to beat in Shoalhaven Cricket’s third grade competition, after they claimed an outright win against Nowra at Lyrebird Park on Saturday.

On day one, the Bay rolled Nowra for just 94 before they cruised to 9/242, thanks to Sean Griffin (86 not out), Tom Purcell (66) and David West (48).
The lone shining light with the ball for the hosts was Grahame Morris (3/31).
In their second innings, Nowra again struggled, being all out for 92 – handing the visitors the outright win.
In the victory, West (2/2), Luke Nikolajew (2/9) and Mark Templeman (2/10) all took multiple wickets.
At the Bomaderry Sports Complex, the Tigers defeated Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens on first innings.
After declaring at 9/225, Bomaderry rolled the visitors for just 91 on day two – thanks to Mark Pritchard (4/15), Gary Evans (3/22) and Michael Blattner (3/44).
In the second innings, after being forced to follow-on, Ex-Servos hung on to be 7/188 at stumps, with Scott Cusack (61) and Scott McCurdy (53 not out) recording half centuries – as Blattner (2/37) added another two scalps to his collection.
At Zealand Oval, Berry-Shoalhaven Heads (6/184 declared) edged North Nowra-Cambewarra (77 and 7/126), with Richard Brain (53) and Hugh Dobson (4/11) being the standouts for the Magpies.
Finally, at the Thomson Street Sports Complex, Sussex Inlet (9/138 declared and 0/9) defeated Bay and Basin (125 and 99) on first innings – with Aaron Piendl taking six wickets for the match.
