The day against the Parramata Eels started in strong fashion with Daniel Lacey’s Tarsha Gale girls winning 40-10 against their visiting opponents.
The win by the Steelers, featuring Milton-Ulladulla’s Keele Browne, Taniesha Roberts and Meg Buchanan as well as Stingrays' Madi Singleton, Teagan Berry, Alex Wallace and Rhiannon Tungai, was set up by tries to Berry (three), Browne, Mikayla Kidd, Maddison Weatherall, Tiana Graham and Buchanan – with Graham (three) and Viena Tinao (one) landing conversions.
Unfortunately, this was the hosts’ only win for the day, as both the Harold Matthews and SG Ball sides suffered defeats.
The Harold Matthews side, coached by Jono Dallas, went down 26-8, despite tries to Edward Pierce and Callum Cecil.
Group Seven products featured in Dallas side were Stingrays quartet Trey Barlow, Toby Peters, Jarvis Polley and Coleby Smith and Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ Louie Chilver.
Finally, Ben Linde’s SG Ball side went down 28-20, with Treigh Stewart, Mathew Feagai, Jack Walsh and Blake Dowel scoring for the hosts – with Aaron Schoupp landing two conversions.
Headlining this Illawarra side were Group Seven’s Zane Boersma (Warilla-Lake South), Josh Coric (Albion Park-Oak Flats), Blake Dowel (Warilla-Lake South), Oscar Fitzpatrick (Milton-Ulladulla), Duke Grant (Warilla-Lake South), and Jack Walsh (Albion Park-Oak Flats).
All three teams will remain at home in round three, with the Tarsha Gale playing the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs from 10am, before the two boys teams play the Balmain Tigers.
