Shoalhaven Mariners Baseball Under 14s travelled to Berkeley to play Berkeley Eagles at Fred Finch Park on Sunday, February 17.

Mariners were up to bat first but Eagles starting pitcher Taylor Fleming prove too strong with Mariners unable to gain any runs.
Eagles were into bat next with Jarryd starting the batting line up, moving his way around the bases to bring in the first run for the game. Berkeley brought on three runs for the first innings.
In the second innings Mackenzie Mannix started off with a massive hit out to centre field to move his way around bases, bringing in Mariners’ only safe run for the innings.
Eagles into bat next saw a few hits but Mariners fielding worked together to only allow one run in for Eagles.
The third innings saw Mariners come out a little quiet to start with but then picked up their speed. Riley Mason started the hits off with Mitchell Parrott, Mackenzie Mannix and Timothy Andrews following to all make their way sliding into home plate.
Eagles come in for a quick third innings with Mariners fielding proving too strong. There were some wonderful plays made by Mackenzie Mannix to Riley Mason on first base, then another great play by Mason O’Rourke to Riley Mason to take the second out for the innings.
The fourth and final innings saw a pitching change close down Mariners with no runs scored. Eagles in for the last time of the day saw a surge of energy with 2 home runs scored. Final score Eagles 9 Mariners 4.
Pitching duties were shared between Mason O’Rourke, Mackenzie Mannix and Cooper Stibbard. Catching duties for the day were shared between Mitchell Parrott and Daniel Lawler.
Friday, February 15, saw a good turnout for Junior baseball with Coach Gabe coming in to help our juniors with techniques for pitching in their training before having a Seahawks verses Stingrays game resulting in a 10-10 draw.
T-Ball had a great turn up on Friday to work on improving their skills with Coach Taylor and Coach Lewis. They started the afternoon with warm-ups before moving onto a game, taking turns batting and fielding.
Shoalhaven Mariners Baseball Association had NSW Gary Everson at Ison Park on Friday and Saturday running coaches courses. We had a number of our players stepping up to improve their baseball knowledge and completing and passing their Level 1 and Level 3 coaching courses. Thank you to Melissa Keith, Hayley Keith, Amber Palmer, Kalysta Palmer, Louise Meagher, Mackenzie Mannix, Stephen Pearson, Brian Cremin and Richard O’Neil.
Shoalhaven Mariners Baseball Association are now looking forward to our 2019 Senior competition. We are looking for any male or females of various strengths to fill 1st and 2nd grades to play on Saturdays along with 5th and 6th grades to play on Sundays.
