Competing with 15 other teams from the area, Bay and Basin had several team members secure spots in the Speedo Sprint Finals at Homebush on Saturday, March 9. Five of our members picked up medals in the championships.
Standouts on the day were Talika Irvine and Riley Anthes, who claimed 11 and six medals respectively. Irvine placed 3rd 50m freestyle, 2nd 200 IM, 3rd 100m butterfly, 3rd 50m breaststroke, 2nd 200m freestyle, 1st 100m backstroke, 3rd 50m backstroke, 2nd 100m freestyle, 1st 200m backstroke, 1st 200m breaststroke, 2nd 100m breaststroke.
Taj Malmborg 2nd 100m breaststroke; Charlotte Greenwood 2nd 100m butterfly; Bianca Grieve 2nd 50m breaststroke, 3rd 50m backstroke; Riley Anthes 3rd 50m freestyle, 3rd 50m breaststroke, 1st 100m backstroke, 1st 50m backstroke, 3rd 100m freestyle, 2nd 200m backstroke.
Talika Irvine has done the club proud by breaking the meet record for the 12-year-old 100m backstroke. These five will now concentrate on training for the NSW Country Championships held in Homebush on February 22 along with other members.
Our girls relay team of Charlotte Greenwood, Jordan Wylie, Elise Irvine and Talika Irvine put in a solid swim at the end of the meet for our team and came 8th.
The club also welcomed two new club members at the meet. Caitlyn McPherson and Alexia Surace joined in with the club cheering on our swimmers.
