Vincentia Shopping Village off Elizabeth Drive will receive some tender loving care, providing Labor comes to power on March 23.
The plans include relocation of an “ugly” toilet block, relocation of the electricity substation to somewhere less noticeable on site, resurfacing of pavement and landscaping to improve the amenity of the grounds.
“Vincentia Village is in great need of a refurbishment,” South Coast Labor Candidate Annette Alldrick said.
“It’s a fantastic place, close to the beach.
“It will be great for local businesses and employment in the area. Vincentia has a growing population and also a big holiday population. The village will be a real hub to do your shopping, and sit down for a coffee.”
Mrs Alldrick announced the funding commitment with NSW Shadow Minister for Local Government Peter Primrose in Vincentia on Tuesday.
The local chamber of commerce approached Mrs Alldrick during its sustained advocacy for improvements to the village centre.
The funding will come from Labor’s $25 million Main Street Revitalisation Fund.
Meanwhile, Nowra’s CBD will miss out in this round of funding.
“It’s not something I’ve been personally asked about as a state candidate,” Mrs Alldrick said.
“I know, through my work on council, there’s a lot more to be done in Nowra.”
