A Nowra man who went on a spending spree with a bank card that wasn’t his, racking up more than $7000 has been sentenced to 18 months’ jail.

Daniel Joseph Nykolyn, 39, will spend at least 10 months behind bars and has been ordered to pay compensation of $7104.92.
The court heard in a bit over two hours in the Nowra CBD on October 31 last year he withdrew the cash and made purchases of $5862, buying clothing and jewellery.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and having goods in custody.
During Nykolyn’s spree he withdrew $1000 with an IMB card that wasn’t his.
During his shopping excursion police allege he spent $240 on clothing at Cotton On in Junction Street, Nowra, followed by $709 at Aquatique Surf Shop, $1538 purchase at Williams Watchmakers and Jewellers, $790 on footwear and socks at The Athlete’s Foot, $1550 at J’Adore Diamonds and $1275 on clothing at SportsPower Nowra.
In Nowra Local Court on Monday (February 11) Magistrate Gabriel Fleming sentenced him to 18 months’ jail with a non-parole period of 10 months and that he pay $7104.92 compensation.
