NORTH Nowra-Cambewarra’s Naomi Woods and her NSW Indigenous women’s team have claimed their 12th consecutive title at the National Indigenous Cricket Championships in Alice Springs.
The record-breaking win completed a dominant week, climaxing with a comprehensive 46-run against Victoria in the final, for the 2019 champions – who went through the T20 tournament undefeated.
On the way to the final, Woods’ NSW side defeated South Australia, Victoria, Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia in the pool games – before beating the latter again in the semi-final.
In the decider, NSW won the toss and batted first and posted 2/168, thanks to 60 not from Anika Learoyd.
In reply, Victoria were restricted to 9/122 from their 20 overs, with Hannah Darlington taking 2/11 – securing NSW their 12th straight crown.
During the week, Woods finished with four wickets, at an average of just 2.8.
