The banner, commissioned by North Nowra-based charity Flagstaff, was fastened onto the bridge with 30 cable ties last Monday.
By Wednesday morning, only the cut cable ties were left.
With Shoalhaven City Council’s permission, Flagstaff had hoped to keep it up for 10 days.
“We spent about an hour putting it up in the heat,” Flagstaff support worker Jono Donald said.
When Flagstaff workers discovered it had been stolen, they contacted council, and found out another banner had disappeared recently.
“We have no idea why someone would take our banner and dispose it when, as a local charity and social enterprise, we are trying to support people with a disability gain meaningful employment and provide services to our local community,” The Flagstaff Group CEO Roy Rogers said.
“Flagstaff provides life skills and work for people with a disability.”
Mr Rogers said Flagstaff was using the banner as an avenue to encourage people with disability to talk to them about job opportunities.
“We have 15 jobs available at our Shoalhaven premises in North Nowra in a variety of roles including our laundry, recycling, light engineering, document scanning and ground maintenance teams and would love to talk to any person with a disability who has an NDIS plan and wants to be employed,” he said.
“We offer flexible hours and a culture that celebrates achievements and inclusion. Flagstaff offers specialised on the job training and a 16 week transition to work training program to new employees.”
