The PM is banking on his assessment that the Gilmore voters are both politically informed and sophisticated. He saw an alleged wrong that had to be righted and what appears to have riled him is the alleged involvement of state pollies in their support for Grant Schultz in the undermining of a sitting member.
Don’t be misled, the polls clearly indicated that Mrs Sudmalis was heading for electoral defeat and this was the catalyst for the local branch members to support the challenge by Schultz.
Adding spice to the challenge was the factional battles taking place in the local branch and this was well known to the Liberal Party senior executives.
The PM drew a line in the sand and appointed Warren Mundine in an attempt to improve his electoral stocks in Gilmore.
Gilmore voters will have the opportunity to display their level of maturity and their commitment to conservative values by giving Mr Mundine their electoral support.

Sound like a dummy spit
Comments in a letter by Greg Kolomeitz, a former Labor party candidate for the seat of Kiama, sound like a dummy spit to me.
He says he wouldn't hold his breath that Labor's candidate would stand up for retirees in Gilmore.
That is an insult to this remarkable candidate. She's an outstanding woman with immense intelligence and compassion for all constituents in this seat.
This is the third election she has stood in and she is beholded to the people of Gilmore, not the latte-sipping masters she has been labelled for.
I have never seen a candidate of any political party work their backside off as much as she has done. Day in, day out, good or bad weather, from one end of the electorate to the other. Always obliging and helping others in whatever way she can.
She's not oblivious to the realities of life outside the Sydney CBD or Canberra. Locally born and bred and well aware of all the problems that exist in the Gilmore electorate.
She’s a highly respected member of our community.

Serious choice ahead
With this current LNP federal government in chaos and a looming election in May, now more than ever it will be important for the Gilmore electorate to seriously consider who they wish to represent them for the next term of government.
Politics influences the daily lives of its citizens regardless of their socioeconomic, race and ethnic backgrounds.
How has this current government conducted itself in our society and how does it stand up to the ethical and social obligations that it has for the people?
I’m afraid that it has failed miserably.
The LNP does not treat this electorate seriously enough and blatantly disregarding its members and constituents in the electorate.
After many years of Liberal-National Party representation in office the electorate of Gilmore struggles still with high unemployment, cuts to penalty rates, casualisation of jobs, labor hire providers, lack of proper medical facilities and staff, schools not funded correctly, loss of public services that are being outsourced to private enterprises, reducing protections for the environment and more.
They were bought kicking and screaming to a banking royal commission, aged care quality and safety as well as a federal ICAC. Our public transport infrastructure is nonexistent
Their time is over and we need to rebuild this nation and electorate back to a society that is inclusive, fair, just, sustainable and ethical.
