ON this week’s edition of the Wide Ward of Sports, sports editor Courtney Ward chats with Australian windsurfer Alex Halank, who has recently returned from competing at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
After starting the sport at the age of seven, it took less than 12 months for the St Georges Basin product to win his first world event.
Since then, his star has continued to rise, travelling to places such as Auckland, China and most recently the United States to compete in the Sailing Youth World Championships, as well as competing in plenty of other national and international events.
All of these competitions acted as a springboard into the pinnacle of the Nowra Anglican College student’s career to date, the 2018 Youth Olympics.
So tune in to hear first hand about Halank’s amazing journey in the surf and what’s next for him in the waves.
