As local school leavers consider their career options for 2019, InfoFest is showcasing the many job pathways offered by TAFE NSW, with staff on hand to assist with enrolments, career advice and campus tours.

The event will run from January 21 to January 25 at TAFE NSW Nowra.

It comes as a recent study by TAFE NSW of the Shoalhaven and South Coast region forecast jobs growth in the health and community services sectors over the next two years.

TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Kerry Penton said the Jobs of the Future report predicted significant growth in full-time employment opportunities in the aged and disabled care and childcare sectors locally.

Other career areas tipped to enjoy employment growth in the region included project builder and chef.

“Caring for our young and elderly are critical to the functioning of any community,” Ms Penton said.

“To provide those services effectively, we need highly qualified professionals and TAFE NSW is ideally positioned to train the workforce of tomorrow.

“TAFE NSW offers a range of qualifcations across industry growth areas including a Certificate III in Individual Support – Ageing and a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care – just to name a few.

TAFE NSW currently provides courses for nine out of the 10 professions expected to have the greatest jobs growth over the next five years.
