MOLLYMOOK’S Blaise Taylor has again proven why he is considered one of the top up and coming mixed martial arts fighters in the country, after he was given a prestigious prize at the recent Australian Muay Thai Awards.

The 17-year-old was named the 2018 Teenage Fighter of the Year, at Saturday’s gala event at the Novotel, Parramatta.
To claim the award, the the former Ulladulla High School student, who trains out of the Ulladulla Southern Fitness and Martial Arts gym, edged out fellow finalists Kane Singleton (Queensland), Damon Nelson (Western Australia), Callum Blackmore (Victoria) and Nick Keros (South Australia).
“It was a very tough category to win, as I was up against some really strong fighters,” Taylor said.
“With that being said, I’m very proud to have polled the most votes and claim the award.
“It’s great for me to be rewarded for all my hard work and to get my name out there.”
Taylor, who claimed the light heavyweight division Australian Muay Thai title in June, said this award is recognition to his whole support network.
“I give credit to my mum, my trainer Richard Neradil, my sponsors and everyone who voted and has helped me progress in the gym,” he said.
“Without all of them, I wouldn’t have got to where I am today.”
Taylor is hoping to travel to Thailand in March for a bout, before returning to the ring in front of his home fans in Nowra on May 4 – as part of Total Havoc 8 at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.
