In the opening round of the two-day format, Norths won the toss and sent the Magpies to the crease.
But after falling to 5/24, with David Crapp top scoring with 13, the Magpies declared, in a hope of rolling the hosts – who were led by Damian Spelta (3/4) and Justin Weller (2/16) with the ball.
In reply, Norths also faltered with the willow, being reduced to 7/31 at stumps – which was just enough to claim first innings.
The hosts will resume on day two with Samuel Lowcock and Graham Davidson six and five not out respectively, while Tom Gibbs already has 4/16 for Berry.
The other two matches between Ulladulla United and Bomaderry at Lighthouse Oval and Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens and Nowra at Hayden Drexel Oval were abandoned on day one, which will force both matches into one day encounters next Saturday.
