Several shark sightings in the Shoalhaven have caused Hyams Beach and Greenfield Beach to close on Friday.

According to the NSW government’s shark activity monitoring service, SharkSmart, a variety of species have been spotted at a number of locations in Jervis Bay and further south.
At 12.53pm a two-metre white shark was identified at Greenfield Beach. The beach was evacuated and authorities notified.
At 12.50pm a two-metre white shark and 2.5 white shark were eyed at Sussex Inlet. The beach was evacuated and authorities notified. Earlier in the day, a two-metre white shark was spotted at the same location, however no surfers or swimmers were nearby at the time.
At 12.44pm a 2.2 metre unidentified shark was spotted at Hyams Beach. The beach was evacuated and authorities notified. Earlier in the day, a 1.5 metre unidentified shark and a 2.5 metre whaler shark were seen at the same location.
At 12.43 a 2.4 metre unidentified shark was also seen at Nelson Beach. The beach was evacuated and authorities notified.
In the morning, three smooth hammerhead sharks were spotted at Wairo Beach.
Swimmers are reminded to swim between the flags at patrolled beaches.
