If you have passed the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery recently you might have noticed an addition to the forecourt. Inspired by renowned Sydney based artist Guy Warren, the painted river lends itself to imaginary canoe adventures leading to the rainforest drawing space, sitting alongside sand and water play tables.
Until February 9, the entire gallery is dedicated to River Rainforest Rock, a survey exhibition by Guy Warren. Dating from 1974 to the present, this collection of lyrical and colourful paintings, drawings and prints reveals Warren’s deep affinity with the South Coast. Warren won the Archibald Prize in 1985 and in 2014 he was awarded the Australia Medal for significant service to the visual arts as a painter, teacher, mentor and competition judge.
If you would like an exclusive chance to enjoy dinner with the artist in the galleries, surrounded by his works, get in quick as places are limited. This three-course shared feast is being catered by Smithy & the Chef, and will be held on Saturday, February 2. Book via SouthCoastTickets.com.au.
