From December 8 to February 9, the entire Shoalhaven Regional Gallery is dedicated to River, Rainforest, Rock – a survey exhibition by acclaimed Sydney based artist Guy Warren. Dating from 1974 to the present, this collection of paintings, drawings and prints reveals Warren’s deep affinity with the South Coast and the influence it has had on the development of his imagery and practice.
There are two opportunities to hear from Guy. On December 8 from 11am to noon he will speak with Richard Morecroft about his practice and the places and events that have inspired the show, such as his 1939 canoeing adventure down the Shoalhaven River. On February 2 an exclusive ‘Dinner with Guy Warren’ will take place in the gallery surrounded by his works.

In the new North Gallery is the annual end of year exhibition of works by students of Linda Dening’s drawing class, and the forecourt will feature a new interactive creative play space to be launched on December 8. There are also colouring-in activities and self-guided tours for children available throughout summer, and School Holiday Workshops from January 8-10. Creative kids from three to 18 can be inspired by Guy Warren and make sculptures in a range of materials, collages or a stop motion animation with artist Angie Cass.
For unique Christmas gifts pop by the Gallery Shop, which is open until 2pm on Saturday, December 22 and stocks a wide range of handcrafted objects by designers and artisans of the Shoalhaven and surrounding region. The gallery will be closed for Christmas from then until 10am Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
