Reigning premiers Ex-Servos finished on top of the one-day ladder and will now host Norths for a spot in the final, at Hayden Drexel Oval on Sunday from 10.30am.
So far this season, in all formats, Ex-Servos have been led by skipper Daniel Gleeson (179 runs), Chris Bramley (131 runs), Nate Jones (12 wickets) and Justin Ganderton (11 wickets) – who will all be counted on in Sunday’s showdown.
“As always, it is of the utmost important that we bat well,” Gleeson said.
“While we have a deep batting line-up, a number of guys haven’t played a lot of cricket, so it’s important guys like Chris Bramley, Blake Munilla and myself get us off to a strong start.
“If we can do that and bat out the full overs, something we have struggled to do at times, we should post a competitive total – which our sharp bowling attack will be able to defend.”
To give them the best chance of ending the premiers title defence, Norths will need Justin Weller (144 runs and 14 wickets), Samuel Lowcock (129 runs) and Damian Spelta (11 wickets) to continue their strong seasons.
In the other semi-final, United will host Berry at Lighthouse Oval.
The Magpies have won both meetings between the sides at that ground this season, which gives them plenty of confidence going into this Sunday’s encounter.
“We are full of confidence and starting to hit our straps – winning breeds confidence, and we have had two looks at Ulladulla this season, so we know their strengths,” skipper Brandon said.
“However Ulladulla will be a much tougher opponent this Sunday with Harley Bell back in the 11.
“Our bowling attack, with six front line bowlers, I think can be the difference between the sides.
“When we played the one-day game, we really exploited their ‘fifth’ bowler, taking more 100 runs from the bowlers that made up these nine overs.
Although Berry, who have won five matches in all formats, boast four of the top six ranked players this season; Nathan Thomas (43.50 points), Daniel Troy (38.70), David Crapp (37.60) and Brandon (30.70), they will be relying on a full tam effort.
“A team effort will go a lot further than any individual performance and I hope we show that on Sunday,” Brandon said.
On the flip side, the hosts will be relying on strong performances from Sam Lee (159 runs), Harley Bell (137), Bradley Field (134) and Aaron Wester (10 wickets) to help them progress into the decider.
