Mrs Hancock said traffic surveying equipment including cameras and counters will be installed about three kilometres north and one kilometre east of the Jervis Bay Road and Princes Highway intersection from 18 December for about three weeks.
“We all know how the South Coast’s, and in particularly the coastal villages’, population increases over the summer holiday period,” Mrs Hancock said.
“Visitors flock to our beaches and towns to take advantage of the summer weather and beautiful South Coast environment.
“We want to get the solution right, so it’s important we understand the full picture.
“These works follow investigation works recently carried out across two weeks in late November which also collected traffic data in the area.
“Traffic data collected will be used to carry out traffic modelling for the intersection. This modelling will inform planning for further investigation work in 2019.
“I have asked that Roads and Maritime keep the community informed about any proposed improvements and thank motorists for their patience during this time.”
Mrs Hancock recently announced the NSW Government was providing $60,000 to continue preliminary investigations into potential improvements to the Jervis Bay Road and Princes Highway intersection.
Roads and Maritime is planning more than $1.5 million worth of safety improvements at several locations on the Princes Highway between Jervis Bay Road and Milton to be delivered before June 2019.
More than $4.5 million of safety improvement work was carried out on the Princes Highway between Jervis Bay Road and Milton during 2016 and 2017.
