O’Shannessy, who helped the Tigers breakthrough for a historic Waratah League banner this year, has been named in Michael Cassidy’s 10-man squad, which will travel to Canberra to contest the under 20s Australian Junior Championships from February 13-17.
Joining the Illawarra Hawks trainee in the squad are Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles’ Isaiah Jefferson Lee and Banjo Talbot, Newington College’s Askam Reed Nottage, Illawarra Hawks’ Lachlan Dent and Brandon Freire, Bathurst Goldminers’ Will Cranston-Lown, Blacktown Storm’s Hayden Blankley, Penrith Panthers’ Lachlan Charlton and Norths Bears’ Hunter Goodrick.
“We are looking forward to what will be a great under 20s tournament in February,” coach Cassidy said.
“Isaiah Lee, Hunter Goodrick and Banjo Talbot are current scholarship holders at the Centre of Excellence and the likes of Lachlan Dent, a former junior Australian point guard returning to basketball, will help strengthen the group – forming an exciting team we believe that we will be able to compete with the best.
“The coaching and management staff are looking forward to continuing the journey over the next two months in the lead up to the tournament.”
