Wolpack fans can look forward to nine confirmed regular season home games at Lamport Stadium in 2019, with their opener being on the road at Bootham Crescent to face newly-promoted York City Knights on Sunday, February 3 – marking new coach Brian McDermott’s first game in charge.
“We are excited to take part in the expanded 14 team Betfred Championship in 2019,” Toronto Wolfpack general manager Scott Lidbury said.
“The league will be enhanced through the addition of three strong clubs with proud and passionate fan bases, such as Bradford Bulls, Widnes Vikings and York City Knights.”
Former Super League outfit Widnes Vikings, who the Wolfpack beat in the 2018 postseason, will face Toronto at Newcastle’s Kingston Park on February 17, in what will be the Pack’s first home game of the season.
The Vikings were relegated from the top-tier Super League and are expected to challenge strongly for promotion in 2019.
A month later, the Wolfpack’s second home game will see them host Batley Bulldogs, one of the original 22 clubs to form the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895, at a UK venue as part of a Championship double-header on March 17.
The Wolfpack are also exploring the option of taking their home game on April 7 to Serbia – which would be the first ever RFL game played in Eastern Europe.
On other date of note will be on the weekend of Saturday, May 18, when the Wolfpack will face Toulouse Olympique at the RFL’s annual Summer Bash.
