On day one at Karen Rolton Oval, the visiting Country side won the toss and elected to bat – posting 243 from their 72.3 overs, with Gilkes and Engelbrecht scoring 29 and 18 respectively.
In reply though, the hosts took full advantage of their home deck, to total 308 from their 89.3, on the back of century by opener Kelvin Smith (129).
During this innings, Engelbrecht bowled four overs, finishing with 0/16.
ACT/NSW Country openers Henry Hunt (40 not out) and Gilkes (36 not out) saw out the final 19 overs on day two, to remain unbeaten at the crease and put the visitors in front by 17, heading in day three.
