Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia representative Victoria Milner thanked the Shoalhaven community for their generosity and enthusiasm over the years towards the calendar and raising money towards their cause, which in turn provides funds for prostate care nurses, research and awareness programs into prostate cancer.
Milner, who acknowledged the magnificent scenery of the Shoalhaven region, accepted a cheque from the calendar committee, representing the funds raised by them since 2011 towards the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
The calendar was magnificently supported this year by donations from a range of businesses, whose generosity allows both substantial fundraising to occur as well as generating support and interest at the calendar launch night.
As well as donations of money and gifts from business owners, Abbie Boyd Photography provided beautiful photographs for the men’s calendar this year and the committee was thrilled to have her on board and look forward to working with her again next year.
Photographs were also provided by Joanne Parsons.
The introduction of the Shoalhaven Women in Sport Calendar this year was a huge success, with female athletes in the region enthusiastically embracing the opportunity to raise awareness of men’s health issues, as well as fund raising for specific charitable organisations.
The athletes appearing in the 2019 calendars have been unanimous in declaring it a positive experience, giving them an opportunity to contribute to their community by raising funds for men’s health and raising awareness of men’s health issues.
Hannah Legge, the inaugural Shoalhaven Women in Sport Calendar front cover athlete, kept the calendar experience in the family after her brother Alex appeared on the front cover of the 2018 men’s calendar.
“It was such an amazing experience to be a part of and a good cause,” Legge said.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to have my bike involved, as it’s time to give up the racing.
“It was a good laugh with Cathy [Russell] and the girls, trying to get ‘that shot’.
“My number one supporter was my brother Alex and I want to thank him so much.”
