A large crowd flocked to Archer Racecourse for the five race meeting.
The opening race, the McDonald’s Shoalhaven benchmark 50 handicap over 1400 metres, was taken out by Red Hot Tango trained by Goulburn’s Karen Welch.
Son Of A Fox, trained by Tara & Philippe Vigouroux at Hawkesbury, then won the Carter Ferguson Solicitor class 1 and maiden plate over 1600 metres.
While Kembla Grange trainer Diane Poideven Lane tasted success with Dalico Gold in the third race of the day, the Brian Norwood Accounting maiden plate over 1200 metres.
All eyes turned to the big screen for the running of the Melbourne Cup at 3pm, before the day’s racing resumed.
Face four provided the closest finish of the day, with only a nose the difference when the first two horses passed the winning post. Exceptional Rhythm, trained by Braidwood based trainer Aaron Clarke claimed a narrow victory in the IJED Electrical and Data benchmark 50 handicap over 1000 metres, ahead of local horse Sanctuary Cover, trained by Michelle Ritchie.
To round out the day, Dollson, trained by Kembla Grange’s Donna Grisedale, won the South Coast Wealth Management maiden plate over 1000 metres, narrowly beating the Robert and Luke Price trained Quandary Lass.
The next race meeting at Archer Racecourse will be held on Sunday, December 9.
