Chiefs batted first in the first inning with Mariners keeping the field tight and tidy. Saxon Reghenzoni-Tate and Riley Mason both took great fly catches to get the outs for the innings with the other out being made from Mackenzie Mannix to Riley Mason. Chiefs were kept to a nil score but we were also unable to score any runs.
In the second inning Mariners struggled with our pitching which saw Chiefs score 5 runs across the plate. Mariners’ first batter was Mason O’Rourke who reached base safely from a walk. Unfortunately we were unable to score any runs with Chiefs making a nice double play for the outs. Chiefs now had the lead 5-0.
In the third inning Mariners’ Noah Tagliabracci had 3 strikeouts, keeping Chiefs scoreless. Cameron Goulden started our batting off but was run out at first base; again Chiefs proving too strong with no runs across the plate.
The fourth and final inning saw Chiefs gain 3 across the plate. Mariners’ Cooper Stibbard started our batting off gaining first base followed by Will Canaris taking a hit to the hip to put him on base. But Chiefs again proved too strong, not allowing any runs. Dapto Chiefs came out winners 8-0.
Pitching duties were shared with Saxon Reghenzoni-Tate starting, having 49 pitches with 22 strikes and 1 strikeout. Next up was Noah Tagliabracci having 52 pitches with 33 strikes and 4 strikeouts. Our finishing pitcher was Mason O’Rourke having 12 pitches with 9 strikes and 2 strikeouts.
Mackenzie Mannix did a fantastic job with the catching duties finishing the complete game. Anyone with any enquiries about Juniors please call Samantha Harbinson on 0488 032404.
