Next time you’re visiting the gallery be sure to explore the courtyard. Eleven art panels have been painted by the Nowra TAFE Aboriginal Cultural Arts Program students in the exhibition Corroboration. These panels range from depictions of the significant landmarks, flora and fauna of the Shoalhaven to explorations of the artists’ personal journeys, families and culture.
The team is excited to introduce the new North Gallery. Its inaugural exhibition is a collection of delicate, lyrical etchings by celebrated artist Garry Shead. This will be up until early December.
Continuing in the Main Gallery is the Vicki Varvaressos survey exhibition Painting in the Same Language - a different vocabulary and the work of four local artists is showcased in the Community galleries from November 10-December 1.
Kaye Johnston’s Bugs Galore offers quirky illustrations from the life of a bug community – individual personalities concerned with social, political and environmental issues populate a variety of geographic locations.

Richard Morecroft was inspired by his travels to Japan in Uno. Photographs of roads, pavements and manhole covers are the starting point for beautifully layered mixed media works featuring collage, paint, and sculptural elements.
Great friends Judy Panucci and Warwick Francis have teamed up for Nature of Memory – Memory of Nature. Through collaboration, experimentation, contemplation and frustration they explore the two universal themes of their title.
If you would like to hear more about of these shows, come along on Saturday, November 10 at 11am as Kaye, Richard, Judy and Warwick discuss their work, practice and inspirations. This talk will be followed by the official launch of the exhibitions at noon – mingle with the artists and fellow art lovers over a drink.
A wonderful new program, ‘Meet the Maker,’ starts December 1. This series of workshops features artisans from the gallery shop sharing their techniques to create beautiful handcrafted objects. First up is resin artist Stephanie Bray, who will provide all the materials and know-how to make two bangles and two rings – opaque, translucent, pearlescent or patterned, the choice is yours.
