Temperatures are expected to hit 30 degrees in Nowra on Tuesday, before increasing to 36 degrees on Friday according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Temperatures were expected to reach 24 at Ulladulla on Tuesday before hitting 30 on Friday.
Kiama’s Tuesday top temperatures were expected to be 24, while Friday’s temperatures were expected to jump up to 32.
The rising temperatures across NSW are the result of a high pressure system over the western Tasman Sea, which is building and will slowly drift east over coming days.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a low-intensity heatwave for much of the state – including the Shoalhaven – between Wednesday and Friday.
The bureau defines a heatwave as three or more days of high maximum and minimum temperatures that are unusual for a particular location.
During a ‘very high’ fire danger period, the Rural Fire service recommends people review their bush fire survival plan, monitor conditions and be prepared to act if necessary.
