Here are a few facts worth considering.
Economic refugees have arrived illegally, without verifiable papers, and find themselves in detention offshore, as they should.
The Greens, Labor and their left supporters are saying bring the children and their families to Australia. They then say they want border protection but in releasing those in detention offshore they would be weakening our borders.
You can’t have it both ways but as usual the bleeding hearts wilt as the pressure mounts when tough decisions have to be made. The cunning use of children is a generic ploy used by illegals in their attempts to advance their cause.
The NZ option is a ruse and designed to try to wedge Australia into releasing many of these illegals. To do so would once again open the floodgates to the people smugglers and we know what that means..

Let the dogs run
I'd like to see the council put a dog run in some of the parks in Nowra.

Sea level caution
As a self-declared “insider”, A. Boutland certainly does give up one aspect of the game the Greens Labor representatives are playing with residents and property owners firmly in their crosshairs.
It was open for us in the Shoalhaven to do what the Eurobodalla council did on sea level rise. The result there was to see property prices plummet and insurance costs skyrocket for coastal holdings. This has affected the lives of many people and their families. It was totally unnecessary.
Shoalhaven instead adopted the conservative forecasts for sea level rise to protect our residents against immediate financial harm while at the same time building in a regular review of the levels. It is this regular review A. Boutland so conveniently ignores. If our forecasts are out, then we have the means available to act.
We now have three (instead of one) Natural Resources and Floodplain Management committees that will operate in our local communities. All our council committees are fully engaged with the environmental needs of the Shoalhaven. Yet now ratepayers no longer need to fund numerous trips to Greens conferences for councillors to worship at the feet of Al Gore.

Look after your Liver
I write to ask readers to help the Liver Foundation with a critical cause and a vital fundraising mission. Put simply, liver cancer is already the fastest growing cause of cancer death on Australia. At least 1400 Australians now die of liver cancer every year. It is expected by the 2030 the number of people with liver disease in Australia will be at least 8 million.Liver disease is slipping right under the radar. it is set to become an epidemic in Australia.
A third of those diagnosed with liver cancer are sadly dead within just one month of their diagnosis. Right now – as people read this – 6 million Australians are affected by liver disease.
Renowned Australian transplant liver surgeon Luc Delriviere is heading to Antarctica to visit places that haven’t been visited before. An international team of experts will be behind him. His expedition will raise much needed funds for the Liver Foundation.
We hope businesses and individuals will get behind Luc’s fundraising mission. To find out how visit liver.org.au. Liver disease is not detected on routine tests. A healthy lifestyle, exercise combined with minimal use of alcohol and no smoking all help a liver’s health.
I urge readers to visit our website, find out more about liver disease and donate to this powerful cause.
