After qualifying for the state semi-finals, following seven straight wins, David Farrow’s side were pitted against Engadine West Public School – a school more than five times its size – for a spot in the decider.
“We conceded an early penalty in the semi-final and from there, things didn’t seem to go our way,” Farrow said.
“Take nothing away from Engadine West, who were a class side and went on to take out the state title, after beating us 2-nil in the semi-final.”
Farrow’s team didn’t have long to reflect on the loss though, as they had a third-place playoff match against Tamworth, who lost to Avalon, to win.
“Admittedly the girls were a little down after the loss but they quickly got themselves back up for the game and produced their best game of the year,” Farrow said.
“Ines D’Hudson scored our first goal before a free kick by Ruby Marshall at the death sealed our 2-1 win, securing our position as the third best team in the state.
“It was a fantastic way to end an amazing season for the girls – it’s easily one of the biggest achievements in the school’s history and they should all be really proud of themselves.”
