A Nowra Hill man has been ordered to repay more than $18,000 he received for a carer’s pension to which he wasn’t entitled.

Kelly Warren Hughes, 33, was convicted of gaining financial advantage from the Commonwealth entity in Nowra Local Court.
In a case brought by the Department of Human Services, court papers said Hughes received $23,807 from a carer’s pension while also being employed full-time.
Court papers said Hughes worked as a full-time hydro operator for for a local cleaning company, earning $63,830 gross income.
The court heard the payments happened over a 16-month period between August 31, 2011 and January 16, 2013.
Magistrate Gabriel Fleming placed Hughes on a $1000 Commonwealth bond to be of good behaviour for eight months and ordered he repay $18,190.
