The competition starts on Tuesday, November 13 and will be played at West Street Oval starting at 6pm, with two time slots.
In other areas, AFL9’s has really taken off in popularity due to the no-contact element, which encourages participation in a skill-based game that usually self-generates a fun and very social environment.
The competition will be a mixed format, with a minimum of three girls on the ground at any one time.
The game consists of 2 x 20 minute halves, and is played on a field that is around 120 metres long and about 80 metres wide. It is divided into three sections, being forwards, centres and backs.
The forwards can kick the goals, with nine points being awarded if a girl kicks the goals.
Being a skill-based game the ball changes over on mistakes, which usually sees players skills improve dramatically in the first few weeks!
You can’t be tackled, dropped in on, used as a step ladder for others to take speccies nor get bumped off the ball – you have it it’s yours until you get touched or make a mistake.
There is plenty of talk around the formation of teams and so far the Shoalhaven Competition has seven definite teams!
So if you have a team, get registered so you don’t miss out!
The Nowra Albatross Vikings will be on scene to support the social aspect of the competition and I am sure that there will be a lot of laughs after games.
It is now time to stop the talking and get on with registering!
If you have a team get them in now!
To register your team – Google AFL9’s follow the prompts, find the Shoalhaven competition and register. Payment is not necessary on registration.
If you want to play and do not have a team, google AFL9’s and find the Shoalhaven Competition and show you are interested in playing, the competition manager will find you a team to play in.
Draws and times need to be set so the competition can be professionally catered for.
The competition already has a few umpires on board, but when necessary each team will be asked to chip in and umpire when required.
Each team will have to supply their own playing t-shirts, same as touch, tag and other social sports
