Standing in their way are three teams; Engadine West Public School, Avalon Public School and Tamworth Public School – who are all much bigger schools.
But that hasn’t fazed David Farrow, who have progressed past seven teams already – from all around the state.
The team, who have numerous girls that play for either Shoalhaven Heads-Berry and Illaroo Football Club’s, started their campaigns in May against Berry Public School – smashing their nearby rival 10-nil.
This was followed a 4-1 win against Nowra, and two sudden death wins against Gerringong (3-2) and Shell Cove (2-1).
The close games continued, when they edged Sussex Inlet on penalties before defeating Austinmer 1-nil, in the South Coast final.
“After we had conquered the South Coast region, we had to travel out to Griffith at the end of term three, to play in the state quarter-final,” coach Farrow said.
“Nothing could split the two teams after regulation and extra-time, but we ended up winning the game on corners.”
Now that the team has progressed to the state final, held at Valentine Park on Monday, there is a sense of deja vu around the school.
“Apparently 25 years ago, we had another string girls team, which reached the final four in the state too,” Farrow said.
“They didn’t go all the way on that occasion but we are determined to.
“The girls have been exceptional all year, especially with their never give up attitude – even when we were down in games, the girls never dropped their heads and continued to fight.
“They are a great group of girls that just love to play football – it’s been a real honour to coach them.”
Farrow’s squad will battle Engadine West from 9.15am Monday, with the winner progressing to play the victor of Avalon and Tamworth at 12pm.
“It’s a remarkable effort to just get this far,” Farrow said.
“Both Avalon and Tamworth have more than 900 kids their schools, while Engadine West have more than 700, with us only having 170 – we are definitely punching above out weight.
“If we were to go all the way, it would be absolutely amazing.
“It would be a reward for all the girls but also the whole school who have supported as, including the very generous P&C.
“I’m sure the girls will do everyone proud on Monday.”
