Councillors unanimously voted to reinstate the Shoalhaven Heads Estuary Taskforce and the Shoalhaven Natural Resources and Floodplain Management Committee.
The floodplain committee has been broken down into three sub-committees to cover northern, central and southern Shoalhaven areas.
Cr Mitchell Pakes said the decision to split the committee into three focus groups would help council and the committee to localise knowledge.
Meanwhile, two committees were not given the quorum’s vote of confidence.
A majority of councillors voted to disband council’s Sustainable Futures Committee and the Children’s Services Reference Group.
What does the Shoalhaven Natural Resources and Floodplain Committee do?
The Shoalhaven Natural Resources and Floodplain Committee is the overarching committee who work collaboratively with council and state government land management agencies.
Council is preparing, implementing and reviewing flood, coastal, estuary and natural resources management plans under the guidance of its Natural Resources and Floodplain Management Committee. The committees comprise of councillors, council staff, members of the community and government agencies and ensure a balanced and integrated view of different issues is considered and that management options are sustainable and consider economic, social, and environmental criteria.

Examine options for pursuing a partial or complete opening of Shoalhaven Heads.
Review council’s entrance and estuary management plans for Shoalhaven Heads.
