White, who captained the Flame in 2018, believes in the direction of the NSW State League club, after a promising debut year.
“I am happy with how the team performed in our first year,” White said.
“It was difficult going into the league and not knowing what to expect.
“We had a very young squad and with only four games to go, we still had a chance to make semi-final football.
“So I look at the year as a very successful one.”
This season was also a successful one for White personally, recently taking out the first grade Player’s Player honour, at their end of year presentation.
“Personally I feel as though I performed well this year, as I continued to improve as the season went on,” he said.
“Receiving the Player’s Player award was a great way to end my season.
“On top of that, it was an absolute honour to be named the first ever captain for the club.
“It was unreal to be able to lead the boys out each week and take on that leadership role not only on game day but at training as well.”
With this all being the case, the club acted quickly after the season to re-sign their leader for another year.
“There were some conversations at the end of the season regarding coming back to play next year,” White said.
“Then a couple of weeks ago I met with first grade coach Paul Robaard and discussed my contract going forward into next year.
“We spoke about some goals we want to achieve as a club and then signed on for another year.
“I really do believe in what the club is trying to do by creating a pathway for South Coast players.
“The standard of training at the club is great and I really enjoyed my year.
“As long as I am playing good football then I am going to try and play as high a standard as I can and the Flame definitely provides that for me.”
White isn’t the only Shoalhaven product that played for the Flame in 2018, with both Bomaderry’s Darren Jones and Culburra’s Martin Thompson in the squad.
