IN the windsurfing section of the Youth Olympic Games at Buenos Aires, it was a 'pumpfest' for St Georges Basin’s Alex Halank and his Australian team on day one.
The light winds prevailed and tested the ability of sailors, Halank and Hailley Lea who both finished 16th on day one, to create their own wind, using the force and finesse of their bodies.
Halank, 17-year-old Nowra Anglican College student, then backed up his opening round 16th with a 21st, an eighth and most recently a sixth in race four and 17th in race six [as race five was cancelled].
These results leave him currently ranked 13th, heading into more competition later int he week.
