The Salvation Army were on-hand to offer a free breakfast, there were lucky draw prizes, entertainment, a jumping castle, a three-on-three basketball competition and information on local community services.
Shoalhaven City Council also took the opportunity to officially open the new Learn to Ride track at the park on the corner of Quadrant and Parramatta Streets, Nowra East.
Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley took the honours of launching the new facility and encouraged the Shoalhaven’s youngest residents to get out and enjoy the new the bike path.
“This new Learn to Ride bike path will help toddlers, preschoolers and primary school aged children improve their early bicycle riding skills,” Cr Findley said.
“The new park will complement the existing playground, basketball court, story poles that are currently in Parramatta Park and the newly planted trees.”
Council committed $25,000 towards the construction of the park and secured a $50,000 grant from the NSW Department of Family and Community Services for the project.
