More than $2300 cash was stolen from Victoria Kriticos and Jayden White’s home on Sophia Road, Worrigee between the hours of 7pm and 10pm on October 7.
“We went out for a family birthday and got back home around 10pm,” she said.
“When we walked through the house I noticed muddy footprints all through the bedroom.”
After checking her bedroom, Miss Kriticos found the ensuite fly screen had been ripped and the window pulled open.
“I checked my bedside drawer and all the money [which was kept in a birthday card] was gone,” she said.
Most of the money was given to Miss Kriticos by her father as a birthday present, the rest she had made from her job as a babysitter.
“We are devastated,” she said.
“We are doing our best to get ahead and it’s awful that someone would do this.”
Miss Kriticos said she thought the money would be safe in her bedroom.
“You don’t think something like this is going to happen to you,” she said.
“We are really upset someone has done this and I’ve never felt so unsafe in my own home.”
While Miss Kriticos doesn’t know who broke into her home, she believed it could have been someone she is friends with on social media.
“It’s so unsafe to trusty anyone on social media.”
Miss Kriticos has reported the incident to police. Anyone with information should contact Nowra Police Station at 4421 9699.
