Vigneron Greg Bishop said the trophy winner was the 2011 Coolangatta Estate Wollstonecraft Semillon.
“This is the seventh time we have won the Semillon trophy in the 23 year history of the annual show,” Mr Bishop said.
The latest success brings the tally of awards, medals and trophies the local wine producer has won with the help of its winemakers at Tyrrells closer to the 2000 mark.
Which is as good as any wine producer in Australia.
“We have now won 180 trophies, about 295 gold, 410 silver and 1047 bronze medals,” Mr Bishop said.
Most of the success has been for the Semillons but the Tannat variety is also doing really well for the temperate climate vineyard.
Riesling is likely to be the next variety from Coolangatta to turn industry heads.
