
CULBURRA Beach’s Beau Buckpitt has played a starring role in helping his Southbridge Boardriders Club finish second at the 34th Vissla Junior Kirra Teams Challenge.

Held recently, by the Kirra Surfriders Club, Buckpitt and his team, coached by Kevin Schofield, finished second to only the North Steyne Boardriders Club – who recorded five first place finishes, two seconds and one fourth.
While Buckpitt, who himself managed a first place in the under 16s division with a 17.13 (including a 9.60) after edging Coffs Harbour’s Riley Smidt (15.33), Snapper Rock’s Kurt Morrow (10.50) and Cabaritta’s Zahli Kelly (10.16), and his team finished with four first places, two seconds and two thirds.

These results include Kash Smith (under 12 boys first), Josh Marsh (under 12 boys third), Flynn Hodges (under 14 boys second), Oceanna Rogers (under 14 boys third), Chae Conti (under 16 boys first), Kiara Meredith (under 18 boys first) and Max Bullen (under 18 boys second) – with Leon Meredith (coach) and Lennix Smith (captain) also involved.
Rounding out the top 10, out of the 28 teams, were Burleigh, Snapper Black, Cronulla, Leba, Angourie, Coffs Harbour, Long Reef and Sawtell.
