JUST one week after the 2018 Shoalhaven Football competition’s wrapped up, a number of the players shifted their focus to the first ever South Coast Sevens tournament held at Gerringong’s Gerry Emery Reserve.

Across the two-day tournament, hosted by the Gerringong Breakers, more than 300 athletes took part in more than 90 games of high quality and fast paced football.
In the men’s A grade final, Gulls FC (Huskisson-Vincentia) edged Jamberoo Pub in a nail biter.
After the match finished 2-all at the end of regulation, the teams played two against two golden goal, where an outfield player from each team and both goalkeepers got involved in the action and after 10 minutes of extra-time, Huskisson’s goalkeeper scored the match winner.
While the women’s A grade competition was taken out by Waverly Old Girls (Eastern Suburbs Sydney), defeating the Black Cockatoos in the final.
The final A grade final contested was the veterans, which was won by Re Animates (Canberra), who ousted The Expendables for the crown.
In B grade, the men’s title was won by Thirsty Bears, who ousted the navy in the final. The navy also lost both of the women’s B grade and veterans B grade finals, going down to LastMinute.Comp and Uni Bombers respectively.
Finally, in C grade, the Gerringong Joongars defeated Cul De Sac FC in the men’s final, the Sharkettes edged Loko Leopards in the women and Gerringong Generals won the veterans against the Breakers over 35s.
