At North Dalton Park, the black and gold jumped out of the blocks, to lead 3.1-19 to 1.2-8 after the first quarter – thanks largely to two goals from Lockie Bailey.
But in the second quarter, the Kangaroos hit back, kicking two goals to none, to lead the minor premiers 3.5-23 to 3.2-20 at half-time.
Despite their best efforts, the Tigers fell further behind in the third quarter, to trail by 10 points heading in the final term.
Midway through the fourth, the Kangaroos led by 11, before Tigers’ Nick McDonald, Matthew Barnes and Jeremy Owens all nailed majors – with the latter putting the Tigers up by two with less then three minutes to go,
Brent Tyrrell’s troops managed to hold on in the final minutes, to secure the gritty win, which saw John Muggleton named best on ground in the decider.
