Kangaroo Valley rowing veteran Gerry Garrett, 90, was overlooking the action at Paringa Park on the Shoalhaven River .
Mr Garrett, who still gets out on the water, enjoyed the morning.
“These are ideal conditions,” Mr Garrett said.
“Sydney club members really like the river down here, they’re used to contending with ferries.
“Apart from the occasional wake-boat there are no container boats or ferries here.”
About 170 rowers from Black Mountain Rowing Club, St George Rowing Club, Leichhardt Rowing Club, Nepean Rowing Club, North Shore Rowing Club, Drummoyne Rowing Club and Shoalhaven Rowing Club took part in the yearly regatta.
Rowers navigated a 6.5km course, competing in eights, fours, quad sculls, double sculls, and single sculls.
Shoalhaven Rowing Club president Simone Jones said the club of 60 members was pleased with turnout, and welcomed local residents to join them in learn to row classes each Saturday morning at 7am.
