The students and staff were encouraged to come to school dressed as a farmer for a gold coin donation and the school’s Parents and Citizen Federation (P/C&F) committee took part.

Committee members made ‘Parma for a farmer’ chicken parmigianas which students could purchase for their lunch.

These activities were held in support of an initiative of Christian Schools Australia (CSA), the family of schools that NCS belongs to.

CSA encouraged NCS and other schools to promote ‘Buy A Bale’, a charity that is gathering donations to help our farmers in this great time of need.

This organisation raises funds to buy bales of hay, buy diesel for trucks that deliver the hay and hampers of food for farmers.

NCS principal, Rob Bray, said many families had generously given over and above the suggested gold-coin donation and the P/C& F had sold more than 140 ‘Parma for a farmer’ meals.

“It was wonderful to see our school community come together for this worthwhile cause,” Mr Bray said.

“At the end of the day we had raised just over $1,500, with all the proceeds going towards ‘Buy A Bale.”’

Nowra Christian School will donate this money to ‘Buy A Bale’ but specify that they would like to have it reach farmers in Southern NSW and the Shoalhaven region in particular
