The Gerringong Breakers won the title with its 2-nil victory over the Bomaderry Tigers and an old debate was sparked.
The debate would be whether the week off an advantage or a disadvantage?
Bomaderry was the first team into the grand final and had the week off.
Bomaderry’s grand final opponents and the eventual title winners, Gerringong, played a tough match against Vincentia/Huskisson while the Tigers rested.
Bomaderry was the best team all season and maybe the week off saw them lose their groove.
The hard battle against Husky last week might have worked to Gerringong’s favour and they were ready for another tough match on Saturday.
Gerringong’s two match-winning goals were both kicked in the first half.
Nicholas Astin and Kane Rowe kicked goals for the Breakers.
Gerringong’s Matthew Lando was named best on ground.
Just 12 months ago Bomaderry defeated Gerringong in the first grade grand final and revenge would be sweet for the Breakers.
The Breakers last taste of premiership success was in 2012.
