RFS spokesperson Greg Allan said the fire was contained just before 7am this morning.
“Crews contained the fire about 7am this morning,” he said.
“At the moment we have 24 personnel on the ground, as well as an aircraft and six vehicles,” he said.
Mr Allan reminded residents to call 000 only if they see any flames or unattended fires.
EARLIER: Rural Fire Service crews have brought a bush fire at The Wool Road, Worrowing Heights under control.
The fire, which has burned more than four hectares of bushland, was reported to crews about 2.30pm Friday, September 14.
The blaze was burning to the east of Tomerong Creek at the back of Erowal Bay, fortunately, no property was under threat.
As there was no vehicle entry to the fire, access was difficult.
Crews from Cudmirrah, Tomerong, Sussex Inlet, Crossroads, St Georges Basin, West Nowra, Callala Bay and Culburra spent the evening strengthening containment lines ahead of Saturday’s strong winds and total fire ban.
A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Illawarra-Shoalhaven for Saturday, September 15.
The fire risk rating for Saturday is severe, with hot and windy conditions expected.
A Total Fire Ban means no fires out in the open. A Total Fire Ban helps limit the potential of fires developing.
During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire.
No general purpose hot works, such as welding or gas cutting can be done in the open.
